Dual Rec Rackmount vs. Divinity
I was just wondering what you guys how you guys think Mesa Dual Rectifier Rackmount stacks up to the Madison Divinity. Im considering purchasing one of these two amps. And was thinking I could get some input on them. Still looking for the Nevermorish type of tone. I heard that Nevermore used Krank and Dual Recs on the This Godless Endeavor and I'm lookin to get a variation of that tone. I'd appreciate any input.

They used the Recto rackmount on TGE, too
.In all honesty, based on everything I've heard, seen, read, etc... the Divinity is a fucking joke. |

a fucking joke? thats weird, i always thought it was a pretty damn good amp. i actually though it was a little muddy but that might've been the stock tubes or the guitar i dunno. but the racktifiers are legendary in there own right.

http://acapella.harmony-central.com/...ight=duct+tape http://acapella.harmony-central.com/...ight=duct+tape I take JerryP's opinions and experiences, as well as pictures of the damn amp with duct tape in it fairly seriously. Jerry is a great guy and know's what he's talking about. |

I talked to Jerry over e-mail; he's a stand up guy, has a good rep too.
I am glad I only paid $450 for my Chinese-made head ![]() |

Also, I'm kinda intrigued by their use of a 12AT7 in the high gain stage...

I still have yet to sit in a room with a Divinity, so I can't really comment on the tone, other than to say the recorded bits I've heard didn't really impress me - but who's do? |

I just read through twenty five pages (and I hope you appreciate my sacrifice, lol) of discussion on Harmony Central, and the worst this Jerry guy has to say about it is this:
Quote:
It's not an amp I'm terribly interested in myself - it's designed to get a very different tone than I go for - but still, DSS3, calling it a "fucking joke" based on this guy's comments is both misquoting him rather badly, and SURE to provoke the guys on the board who like their Madison's - maybe try posting with a little more tact? C'mon, it won't kill you. ![]() Mike, who's do? John Petrucci. ![]() |
