![]() | Digitech GNX4 worth the 500.00 smackers? Anyone that uses, or knows anything about this unit. Digitech GNX4 Guitar Workstation. Its a lot of dough and I was hoping for some insight before making a decision. Thanks! |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I have a POD Xt Live because I like the tone of those effects more. The Digitech ones tend to be much more powerful. The real way to see if it's good, is to go dink around with one for an hour or so yourself, and then try all the other competitions out. |

![]() | I have a GNX4. The presets aren't very good and the learning curve to all the features is high but it is an incredible unit. I use mine mostly as my pc interface into sonar but it also has a really good drum machine and some great sounds can be coaxed out of it. I actually splurged on a disk of presets for it from http://www.mfxsupermodels.com/MFXMAI...PERMODELS.html that have really openend up the possibilities of the unit. If you plan on using the gnx4 as a pc interface and you obtain these custom presets then it's easily worth the price. If you plan on using it just for the factory presets I'd pass on it. I'll see if I have time today and I'll post some clips of what it can sound like. |

![]() | Digitech Guitar workstation Thanks! I understand thier may be a book available written by someone separate from Digitech on the Ins and Outs of the GNX4 like a "for Dummies", anyone know of this? I originally saw this unit in an ad in GW whereby Digitech was offering a 20K prize to the best song recorded on a GNX4. |

![]() | i have the gnx4, and i use it all the time. whenever i dont feel like carrying around my amp, or even if i need a back up, i take it along, and have it plugged into the pa. as already stated, the presets suck. it is also very hard to learn how to use it right, but once you do, man does it kick some ass. i prefer it to the gt-8 and to the pod as i find that it has more bang for the buck. hey thats just me. two other things to point out. it has an eight track, that operates via cf or hooked into your comp. it comes with some good editing software, and if i have a lick i want to remember, i can just record it and catalog it for later use. you can get an external footswitch( i got mine for free) to do hands free recording. also, this thing does eliminate the need to carry around a pedal board, which makes me happy. there is a book, and the presets in the mags sound much better than the real presets. however, you can buy some awesome presets online. it's true there were better ones that led their people it's true there were better ones to lead their country it's true there were better ones who cared for this world but who are we to change -unearth |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Everyone's pretty much summed it up. It can sound awesome, but you've got to put a lot of work into it. If you want something you can dial in a good sound on in 5 minutes, buy a Pod. If you want quality effects, good tones when you put the effort into it, a drum machine and an 8 track recorder, buy a GNX4. Get the external footswitch too, that way you can record stuff and change presets hands free. There's a Digitech sub-website dedicated to the GNX family. That's got a lot of tutorial's and patches on it. There's a 1000+ patch zip file of Digitech patches and every Guitar World and Guitar One patch on there. There's some good stuff on those, but the best sounds come from mixing patches together. Digitech call it "amp warping". Best thing about mine is I can take it anywhere, plug in some headphones, switch on the speaker compensation (which really sounds good) and jam without disturbing others. This is a big plus when I stay at my girlfriends, as she's got a 3-year-old daughter. Sleeping kids and half stacks don't mix! |
