![]() | You fuckers have it all wrong. THIS is acoustic modeling. ![]() Outside of that, acoustic simulators aren't the greatest. If you want a good acoustic sound from an electric, you should start with piezos. edit: I find that position 4 on an Ibanez 5-way gives me a nice clear sound, as it puts two coils in a parallel configuration. Play with the tone knob, tweak the presence, and you might be surprised... |

(There's also an older model... the AC-2.) The effect is quite good. With a lot of tweaking, a good amp (or PA) and the right touch, it's passable in a live situation, but not a dead ringer for the real thing. I find a neck-position single coil works best at getting the timbre right, but playing a piezo-equipped guitar makes it sound even more realistic, but still not as good as the real thing. I'm surprised Line 6 hasn't applied some of their Variax knowledge to create some very basic guitar modeling pedals. |

Granted, the technology isn't quite there yet to make non-piezo electrics sound entirely convincing, but like Darren says, they're passable in a live setting with a full mix. |
