![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | New Effects Needed Due to my G Major going tits up, I need a new effects unit. So far I've narrowed it down to: Digitech GSP 1101 (as it's designed as a stand alone effects as well as a modeller) Rocktron Xpression TC Electronics G Major (the G Sharp doesn't cut it for me, and the G Force is too much) I'd like opinions on the pros/cons of these units, plus I'm also open to other suggestions. My requirements are: · Minimum of chorus, delay, flanger, reverb. Wah would be cool, though not essential as I have a Crybaby From Hell. · Multiple effects at once · Midi controllable · Preferably 1U in size, but no more than 2U · Available brand new at this point in time (I want a warranty) · 240v operation (ideally an internal power supply, but I'll consider units with a wall wart like the Rocktron) · Reasonably priced (ideally under £300 in the UK) · Easy to programme I'll be using this in the parallel effects loop of my Dual Rectifier if that has any bearing on suitability. I want something that has decent quality effects, but it doesn't have to be studio quality as it's for live use. EDIT: I don't need anything with relays. |

![]() | the g-major is just what you need for an affordable price, and has 2 relays to control your dual recto too ![]() the chorus, delay and reverb are really good...the flanger is thin, but usable. great for gigs, i used it for 2 years with my engl, never had a problem. I sold it a few weeks ago because i don't use it that often. the Xpression is ok, but the G-major is the best thing you can get for the price ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | What's wrong with your current g-major? THere are some bastard little settings inside it that can make things weird, plus the effects loop level settings have a lot to do with it. Add to this that if you are hitting the unit too hard (ie, a waaaaaay too hot signal) it will clip and does drop in volume, maybe that's what you are seeing? I can still never remember how to set all the level switches on everything in my rig, but it should all work. My guess is that if you are seeing volume clipping from time to time is that you are overloading the input of the unit. Try toggling between consumer/pro settings as they have different amounts of input that they can handle, and one of them will suit the amp (i have had this, where consumer is a better setting for both the VHT and the triaxis) |

![]() | If you need relays then get the G Mayor or the Replifex ( wich is solid and will not die and real cheap).. but if you have something with relays like the FCB1010 then you can look at the GSP1101. The effects are nice and you can configure patches to use either the internal modeler or your amp. Now i cant say personaly about how good this thing is live but i've heard alot of people use it live with no issues. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I've had a few of the Rocktron units, and none of them really worked for me. I could get 80% of the way to being happy, but no further. I would honestly stick with the G-Major, as I feel it's the best guitar processor in that price range. ...that the play is the tragedy, "Man" http://www.fools-game.com/ |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Another vote for the G-major, out of experience... but I'm really interested in the GSP 1101, if the quality/road-readyness is up to snuff. |
