Recommend me some good amps under $1K

It's not that I don't like my Line 6 stuff but I'm actually getting tired of all the options I have availible with them. So recomend me some good amps for under $1000, tube or solid state. I'm kind of in the market for something a bit different(i.e. something other than Mesa or Peavey. Though, not out of the question).
There is just so much out there right now and I can't decide.
Also, I like a darker sound, say like Ty Tabor's tone on King's Xs Dogman CD.

And on a side note, has anybody tried the Ashdown Fallen Angel?

I'd recommend the V3, but I have yet to receive it. After it arrives, then i'll tell you to get it

Yeah, I actually have been waiting for yours to arrive so you can review it for me. It's deffinately a top contender just from the sound samples on Carvin's website. Although, I dig the hell out of the MTS sound clips too.

$975 from Rocksolid Amps. The price keeps going up, I bought mine for $649 back when Madison didn't really have any dealers. I bought direct. It's still a kickass amp for $1000! Smokes the competition IMO.
