Gurj is on a distinguished road
Not sure of the prices over the pond, but I'd recommend the Peavey XXX

Johnson Millenniums are badass for about your price range. You can get either the combo or the head for under a grand.

If you're sick of the options of Line6, maybe try the HD147. It's got options, but not as many as the Vetta. Hell, any of the other Line6 heads have less options compared to the Vetta.

But I totally know what you mean. My Flextone II combo I have at home as a practice amp, I pretty much keep on one channel the whole time (the Matchless setting) and turn the gain up or down for clean and distorted. I don't even use the floorboard with it anymore.

You should look at the Randall MTS stuff. You should be able to get into a RM 100 used for less than a grand. You could add modules as you want / need them. You can't get a cooler tone than the XTC module. There are lots of choices in modules and you still get tube tone. It's definitely a tubey modelery kind of thing.

Yeah, I just want to go back to a simpler setup. Ya know what I mean? I wish there was a kick ass sounding anp that just had a volume knob and that's it.
I might call the music store back home and see if they still have that Mesa F-100. That was a pretty killer amp.

I've considered that. Mostly because it lights up all blue when you turn it on. And let's face it... that alone kicks ass! My only concern with it is that it doesn't have the Soldano model.

Sort of. I think it has a couple of knobs.
I'm kind of bumming. There was a JCM800 1/2 stack on ebay a few weeks ago for $900. Looked to be in great shape too. And it was only about 20 miles from me so I could have just picked it up.

Fuck it. I'll probably just get a Vetta HD or HD147.

You could search ebay for a used ADA MP-1 and poweramp. I have a MP-1 coming next week and i've heard very good clips of it with a 7 string.
