Looking for a combo....

... and I've got £500 to spend (about 997.089 USD give or take a few cents!)

I don't play a lot of metal, more Instrumental Rock, hi-gain Blues, so I'm looking for an amp with a fair bit of gain (don't mind having to use a boost), that doesn't get muddy. FX Loop is essential and reverb preferred. I'd like something pretty loud for gigs and rehearsals, but that I can still use in the house (suffice to say, neighbours suck - breathe and they'll start bitching cos it's too noisy)

All suggestions welcome!

Mesa DC series, F series, or Nomad series. 30 or 45, in the later case.

lol, that's what I was thinking about, or a Peavey Classic 30, but testing out amps isn't really much of an option. I'm so far north in Scotland that i'm about a half hour drive before I fall off the edge of Mainland Britain (where there happens to be a kick-ass recording studio). But anyway, I digest.

a half-hour drive to get to a shop is fine, its 40 minutes just for me to hear a traynor - anything "Good" is 2 hours minimum

go test some amps. make a day of it.

peavey classic series are nice amps too!

see, the nearest shop to me that sells amps is 120 miles away. And they're all Line 6. However i played a Laney VC30 at the LIMS and it sounded pretty good, so i might just get it and a Satchurator. Cheers man!

Is there an Engl combo in your price range? If so, try one out, I quite like how versatile they are, and the hi-gain is generally devastating.

Laney VC15 / VC 30 + 2x12 extension cab for gigs. Not everyone likes them, but worth a listen.

eBay a used thunder or screamer by ENGL. That should fall nicely into your budget
