Line-6 guitar port and riff tracker

I know-i've said before I'm not too much of a fan on L6 stuff but.. I needed a quick way to practice at night quietly but still retain effect options. While my rack setup spoils me, it's kinda silly and wasteful to power that all up just to run a headphone set or direct( while requires a wire reroute).

So I picked this up. http://www.line6.com/rifftracker/
I must say i was pretty impressed with the program and it's sounds.

Yeah, that looks really neat. Any Latency with your PC(what type of system as well)?

I went with the PODxt over this solely because I was worried my PC wouldn't be able to take running this + winamp + whatever, since that what I use as a jamming set-up..

I do like that they've made the model packs available for the G-Port, that makes it very tempting indeed. Still I won't be sold on Line 6 till I back to back it with my current modelling gear.

No latency that i can pick up on. Even with a lot of effects. I have a pretty hot system though.

I have a v-amp2, And I'm looking into getting a podXT. Something just seems lacking in the v-amp compared to what I've heard from the pod.

most people seem to feel the opposite i find heh... of course, i got the vamp pro now, and that was a step up from the 2 since it has spdif out, and my sound card has spdif in, but other than that, i've never been able to get the tones i want out of a pod anything, vamp2/pro i easily get exactly what i want... i also found for live, a bbe really helped my vamp pro setup, at least helped me achieve the tone i wanted through the fender power amp i have and through my cab.... my biggest gripe with line 6 is their cab sim... without cab sim on the line6's sound good(through a real cab of course), but one you turn on cab sim its like automatic sh*t filter... all my opinion of course, take it FWIW...

Actually the cab sims on the v-amp are what I really dislike. Of course I could do with changing the pickups on my 7620, but still. They never sounded as crushing to my ears.

I love my Vamp Pro through an amp/cab, hate it direct. Bought the PODxt to see if I could get a better recorded tone, and to compare the two a bit as well.

i can echo that i am disappointed with how my universe sounds through my vamp, but quite honestly, i feel it is entirely the fault of the blaze pickup, as my Rhoads V with x2n and my washburn with X2N sound fantastic through it... i use cab sim 1 for a real butt rock/hard rock/80s metal tone with modern hi gain(actually got a compliment tonight from my buddy danny danzi on it), and i use cab 15 for my universe's tone, and cab 12 or 13 for my heavier tones for my x2n guitars... can't wait till i get an x2n-7 for the universe, i really think it will solve the problems with tone on that guitar. lately, a lot more people on musicianwar.com have been getting vamps, and i've been hearing a lot of people saying they believe the vamp is superior to line 6 as well... i know when i was in my last "band" my other guitarist had a xt live, and i had my vamp rig, and my tone definately cut through better, and overall just sounded better than his xt live... but his xt live changed amp sims faster lol

toshiro out of curiosity, are you using the analog out or digital out on the vamp pro? i've noticed a completely different tone from the analog out compared to the digital out, and i much prefer the digital

Best derail this year yet! No beef about it though.

The treadplate ( mesa) model and the Plexi are amazingly closer than I though possible with this software.
