Question Cabs To Match Valvestate 8200 (Nub Content)

*Deep Breath*
Hello everyone.

After several months of GASing and watching the 'bay, I finally settled on a new amp head: an old Marshall Valvestate 8200. The purchase is complete, and eh should currently be en route.

Problem is, I know virtually nothing about cabs (this amp is replacing a faeces-ridden Crate combo, mind you ), and the thing isn't shipping with the manual. From the information I've gathered from the interwebs, this beast can run at 4 or 8 ohms and is primarily meant to run in stereo.

I understand that if I have a stereo cab, I can each stereo output on the amp into opposite sides, which is essentially a mono setup. Currently this is my plan, but I've been debating purchasing two seperate cabs as well, although if this were the case they would certainly be 2x12's.

I've heard Orange and Vader are great in the cab department, but alas both are mono and the Orange is 16 ohms. Does anyone have experience running in stereo and/or cab recommendations? Please and thank you.

*GASP*

The only creative accounting I have seen is Bush's plan to balance the budget by 2015.
Unless, of course, he plans on skyrocketing the debt at such a rate to approach infinity on an
asymptote, causing a giant budget calculator divide by zero error that reboots the country.

The amp *should* run at a MINIMUM of 4ohms, meaning, you can run it at 4, 8, or 16.

But don't quote me, as I think I just blew two of my amps from ohm problems

But since the poweramp is solid state you should have no issues.

Ignorance is not bliss. Ignorance only hides the truth. And the longer that truth has to hide, the more it stings when it makes itself known.

You can run a safe mismatch as long as the amp ohms < cabinet ohms ie 8 ohm output to 16ohm cab should be fine. You also need to keep in mind that the 8200s are 100w per channel.

EDIT: IMPORTANT CORRECTION I originally had "8ohm output to six ohm cab" should be "8 ohm output to 16 ohm cab"

hum yeaw , vader .

expensive as fuck in europe (800€ for a cab ... okay ... 800€ = 1200$ ) . cheap as fuck in the states (half the european price) . good as fuck .

hum . what cab cheap but still loud and well-built , with strong deep low-end ? i'm in europe and looking for a really cheap but still really great cab . i don't mind if it's used of if it has shit speakers . eminence swamp thangs are made to replace crap speakers so i just need a cheap and beefy cab .
