Help me figure out an amp
Alright, so I'm searching for a new amp as the Mesa is going away. I'd like to try to keep it under $1000 or so, if it's a bit over I can deal but that's roughly my range.
Now I'm thinking of two routes. I have a speaker cabinet so a cabinet isn't a huge issue. but it's not superb by any means. So here are my ideas. 1. Buy a Line 6 Spider Valve head. I haven't tried them extensively but they seem pretty good. 2. Buy a rack setup, probably something like PODx3->poweramp->cabinet. Covers effects as well, so that's a plus. 3. Try to score something used, maybe like a 5150 or 6505. I also used to play through my old boss's Mark IV with a OD in front and it was this awesome tone. Mark IVs aren't cheap though. I'd really like some nice cleans, but I can usually deal and tweak with my volume/piezo volume to get something usable. I love the crunch of the 5150/6505 but that Mark tone is so sweet as well. With Line 6 it's pretty versatile, so I can probably tweak a Line 6 to get whatever I want. I don't really have any issues with portability, but I'd like to avoid a combo I think. If I had the cash, I'd get a Powerball but right now it's not an option because of practically and availibity to use it. So suggestions? |

traynor YCS100H.
amazing cleans (some of THE best i've ever heard, in person or recorded), 3 channels, tons of versatility, and the option to run at 30W class A. oh did i mention that its $950 or so NEW? it will pwn a lot of options in its price range, and if you boost it you will be bringing teh brootalz home for a long time to come. but what dont you like about the rectoverb?
3 cheers for free gear!
