NAD My first Marshall (that I like)

Not trying to piss off any Marshall fans but I haven't liked most of them I played. A friend of mine loves them, we have very similar tastes on most amps so when he told me I would really like an older JCM 800.

I went on a quest. After a month or so, I found a local one that I could see.. The guy was very honest and up front with info and called me before the sixty mile drive to tell me that the price was not negotiable. I said cool but I need to see the inside so I know that no one has been messing with it..

The cap on the volume pot had one leg lifted but other than that it was stock, down to the old GE 6550's that were matched within one milliamp. Man was he right, this thing is bad ass... especially after I came home and put two high gain jj's in V1 and V2....

You should try any good 7025 in V1, it'll blow your head off

I love that amp, one of the only Marshall I like

My guitarist uses an early 80s JCM800 that he got for $500

He got it so cheap because a cat pissed in it

He cleaned it up and it works perfectly, and sounds amazing.

I'll have to see if I can find a good 7025 to try in it..

I wish mine was one of those cat piss deals..

Yeah, worked out pretty nice for him

Though now he's wishing it had an effects loop

He's only got basic EH tubes in it, and boosts it with an original Tubescreamer and a BBE Sonic Stomp. It would sound even more killer with better tubes, a modded Tubescreamer, and losing the BBE.

He probably bought that amp just so he could cheese with it!

that's fuckin funny, I guess if it sounded terrible you could say "that sounds like cat piss!" and it would actually make sense

You've obviously never heard the patter of falling urine on dewey forest undergrowth. feline or otherwise.

...btw nice score on the jcm, aside from the silver jubilee, just about the only Marshall I would own.
