![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Best hard case for Ibby 7-shaped guitars? I'm thinking ahead to when I head up to CT to pick up my Sherman and I want to have a case ready to go by then so I'm looking around for options. I'm not a fan of the look of the UV cases (wish the inside was something other than wine red personally ) and I guess the fact that the last 2-3 UV cases I've received have ALL smelled like cat piss for some reason has kinda turned me off from them! I was thinking about looking for an RG1527 case perhaps as I like the molded cases and the interior is blue on those IIRC (might be red on those as well, thought I've seen blue though? ) which would look much better with the finish on my Sherman (purple with black bursted edges, similar to that Carvin Ed used to have). Are there any other hardshell cases out there I should consider that fit snugly around an Ibanez 7-shaped body? Mike said the headstock is shorten than an Ibby but the body is the exact size of a Universe so any Ibby 7 case would work. Again, I'm not 100% against UV cases (and Andy still has an extra one I believe so I could grab a used one locally ) so if that's my best bet for really strong protection then I could grab one from him that won't smell like cat urine but I was just curious if there are any other good hard cases out there? I'm not looking for gig bags or "softshell" hard cases, strictly hardshells so it's either hard ABS plastic or wood like the UV. Thanks gents! ![]() |

![]() | Can't make any suggestions myself except to say cross the Road Runner hard cases off your list. Bought one for 7321, and the headstock area isn't quite deep enough for the headstock. ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | What about the Ibanez M100Cs? The new one I tried smelt like scented wax. The second-hand one I got smelt like cat piss though the owner did own like 5 cats. ![]() A Warwick Rockcase fits guitars well too. My one smells like books. |

![]() | I've got an extra RG/S standard hardshell case. Brand-new, with the blue interior, molded so it will fit an S or RG perfect. It's yours if you wanna pay shipping, though I don't think it'd be worth your while. All it does is sit in my storage space downstairs (the dungeon, I don't travel their often). But if you're still interested, PM me. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Matt, grab the M100C. Its a moulded case and fits the body of my RG perfectly so it can't move at all, and it doesn't rely on the headstock as another point of rest...so the shape of headstock isn't important since the whole thing is held in by the body moulding. And they smell wubly to. It does say Ibanez on the outside though...don't know how you would cope with that... ![]() Blue interior too, although I think colour matching the interior to the burst on your Sherman is preposterously anal. ![]() 1527's come with 'J.Custom' cases now, which are bigger, thicker, possibly heavier, I forget) lumbs of the same thing, although perhaps a little more secure inside./ Good luck finding one. You can ride them down stairs like a surfboard with the guitar still in them, provided you've had enough to drink (and it isn't your RG1527 inside...sorry Rory!) with no ill effects. Other than the hangover. As with almost all hardcases these days, keep the guitar the hell away from the metal edging all these cases have. The little strips that notch into each other top and bottom - these things were designed to chip finishes, I swear. |
