I'm still wishing my band's second guitarist would get a Tubescreamer or something. Richard uses an old original Tubescreamer, but Matt's just running his Dual Rect. (with bad tubes, and really muddy EQ settings) with no boost, only a Decimator (which I'm not sure he even has on).

Nice. Did you order it in from Long & McQuade in Cambridge? I ordered a Mark IV from the Burlington store but am little concerned about getting it after hearing that the Mark IV is to be discontinued. I struggled so much between the Road King II and Mark IV. Perhaps my choice will be remade for me.

i got it at the burlington store, they have great service there, and a good selection (they're probably the only store in my area that carries soldano and mesa boogie) i wish i could have tried out some other amps there, but i didn't get a chance. I was also thinking about the mark IV but i kind of felt the roadster would suit me better.

i have to say though, i find it harder to play legato stuff on this. i didn't have this problem on my line6 so is that maybe a normal mesa/tube amp thing that i just have to get used to? is there something i can do to fix that? notes that aren't picked super hard seem to die out quickly. i haven't really had much time to work on EQ'ing yet so it could be that i suppose.

I used to have an old Randall that was solid state and I found it much easier to play than tube amps. I think it's part of the organic and dynamic nature of tubes that make it more sensitive to touch, at least to me. It didn't take me long to get used to it and it definitely improved my playing. I can't imagine ever going back to solid state.

What volume are you playing at? I've noticed that when you get the volume up a bit, it develops more of that liquid sustain you're looking for. At low volumes, the amps are total dogs. You absolutely must have an attenuator.
