7 Frequency bands vs. 3~ frequency bands on most amps

= more tone shaping possibilities.

Just try it in the FX Loop, it does wonders.

you could also use it BEFORE the amp as a sort of boost pedal.

cut some lows and boost the higher mid-range to get crunchy tight and djenty palm-mutes.

That's exactly how I use mine. I boost the top 3 but 1 sliders a little till you get a bit more edge and pick attack going then boost the level a decent amount. If it's an amp with a softer response or a muddy low end then cutting a little off the lower sliders can help, but be gentle with the frequency sliders as you don't want to thin the sound out too much or create an odd sounding midrange hump.

the GE-7 can be used as a decent boost in front of your amp by raising the Level slider... but i still think a good overdrive pedal does the job better

That's exactly how I use my MXR. I found putting it in the FX loop made my amp sound like a solid state, though it was gainy as all hell back there. But it was too much. My amp is a little dark so I scooped out the low-bass and curve up to the high mids. Kind of set up for what would be a 'lead boost' but it makes my amp a little more 'guitar range' friendly.

my mother.... she never loved me. She always says she wishes shes was a raped by someone else ~Borat

Nightcrawler has a spectacular aura about
if you cut the lows, boost the mids and highs you can get a sweet kvlt black metal tone.
