Dual Rec Help.

I have an up coming show and I am using my buddies 3 channel DR for it, but i dont have much time to mess with it and get a good EQ setting on it. I am wondering if you guys can recommend me some good settings.

I need the channels to be as follows.
1. Good clean think fendery clean

2. a good Satch style rhythm sound

3. Soaring lead w/ the ability to do a good heavy crunch if needed.

I have an RG7620 with the AN/EVO combo and i might use my tele mahogany/maple cap SD'59 in the bridge.

Each guitarist has an evil fat 40 year old blueswankler trying to get out, If you give in to temptation you'll be sitting next to a fender playing john lee hooker while trying to keep your combover in place. - Desecrated

Shit, dude, dialing these things in is a month long journey...

For cleans, turn channel volume all the way up, the presence between 1/3-1/2, bass around 10:00, mids off, treble around noon. Start turning up the gain until you can live with the sound. This will be the basis for the volume of all your other channels. You will have to compromise some, since you cannot expect this to be a Fender Twin. There will be a little bit of grit on the bridge humbucker.

For leads, use channel 2/modern, as it has the calmer presence knob. Put the presence around 11:00, treble 1:00, mid 11:00, bass 10:30, gain 1:00. Have a tube screamer handy for a clean boost. That should get you a singing lead that will double as a modern rhythm tone. Use the solo boost function to good effect here.

I'll wait for Drew to stop in with the Satch rhythm.

I don't know if I HAVE nailed the Satch rhythm sound on the Recto yet. What era are you talking? Like, Flying? Surfing? Extremist? New stuff? He's changed his sound a ton over the years.

For a Satch-style lead sound, try gain about half up on Ch2 Vintage, treble at 0, mids at 3 o'clock, bass and presence at 11 o'clock, channel volume at 9 o'clock, master as loud as you can get away with, and an OD set for a almost-clean boost out front. I use about 1 on the drive and level straight up on my Chaos TS9.

That said, do you HAVE to use the Recto for this show, or do you just want to? Unless you can get some significant playtime on it between now and then, I'd say go with the rig you know. These things are a bitch to dial in until you get the hang of it, and we can give you settings until we're blue in the face, but until you get to "feel" how it works for yourself and dial it in for what works for you, you won't be happy.

Ahh, you know that Satch lead setting I posted above? Use that. That and a bit of delay or verb from the loop and you're good to go.
