![]() | Orange vs. ENGL Cabs ?? Need some help choosing a cab... I'm from Oz and cabs don't come cheap, nor do used ones become available very often... I can currently purchase: ORANGE ppc212 (v30s) for $800 (RRP is $1199 upwards) ENGL e-212v vintage vertical (v30s) for $750 (RRP is $1349 at the only dealer) I currently use a Laney GH50L, which I have tried it through the ENGL, and it sounded very good (blew away my marshall 1960A). However, I cannot try the orange in advance because it is interstate. For reference, I plan to purchase a peavey 6505+/5150II or similar hi-gain head in the future. I lean towards to ENGL, mainly because the colour of the orange is a bit full on, and I like the idea of the indestructible grille on the ENGL. Also a fairly major point, the ENGL is vertical versus the orange is horizontal. |

![]() | Engl XXls are just bigger than the regular ones,no difference in quality of build. Engl cabs seem to be alittle tighter and a little more highend orientated than orange cabs. Both sound great but it depends on what you want. I don't really have experience with the 2x12s since i've only used the 4x12s of both companies. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | easily the orange! the orange has the tightest low-end you'll ever find on a cab and sounds very untypical for a v30 cab in a good way. As i told you on the other threads, the ENGL v30 isn't bad, but it has an annoying midrange-honk that doesn't go too well with most amps. Orange cabs are hands down the best cabs i've played ![]() |
