![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | The Engl SE cometh.............. ![]() Sorry, no pics yet First impressions... It took me about 30 seconds to dial in a tone almost identical to what I had going with the Invader on Lead 1. The difference is the bottom end is tighter which is what I was looking for. Lead 1/Modern/High Gain/depth boost is really similar to the rhythm tone I had on channel 3 with the Invader. Those of you saying that low-mid gain tones aren't in this amp either didn't spend enough time with it or you smoke crack. Either lead channel with high gain mode turned off crunches up very nicely. I don't like the crunch channel so far but that was expected as I HATED it on the Powerball. I retubed the preamp after trying it with all JJ ECC83's and now it's even better. I put the obligatory Tung Sol in V1, a 5751 in V2, 9th gen chinese everywhere else. The Tung Sol did as it always does and made the amp more 3D sounding. The 5751 dropped the gain on both lead channels and took away some compression. It is now possible to almost dime the gain knob and not have "too much". I am ASTOUNDED how clear this amp is even at ridiculous gain settings! The 5751 also made the amp a lot more pick sensitive which is another complaint people seem to have about it stock. All gone! Haven't messed with the cleans much yet, I'm not too much of a clean guy. Lead 2/High gain just fucking SINGS out neck pickup leads!!! I've been aiming for a smooth Necrophagist like lead tone and I finally have it. This is all in less than an hour so obviously I have a lot of exploring to do on an amp with so many options. I'll keep reporting back as I find more goodies! My only complaint is this is an old one with incandescent lights instead of LED's. The blue has burnt completely off them so the amp lights up white One way or another there will be some LED's installed in there this weekend. |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Sweet! I have always wanted to try one out! Congrats mate! Did you get the EL34 or the 6L6 version? I remember you talked about this amp on the other thread, but it skipped my mind. How does it work with OD pedals, or is it one of those amps that don't necesarily need one? Pics and soundclips would be nice ![]() |

If i'm crazy enough I may even send it out tomorrow morning! ![]() PM me your address, Joe, so I know I have the right one. Ignorance is not bliss. Ignorance only hides the truth. And the longer that truth has to hide, the more it stings when it makes itself known. TheMissing's GAScon status: GAScon 3... New geetar... But now I need to find a new pickup... |
