Pod x3 live (small picstory...)

Hi dudes and dudettes

first of all: thanks for stopping by in this thread

I thought that it was time to get a decent sound machine which enabled me to take it with me, so that i could play guitar in my appartement in Zürich (my neighbours wouldn't be very happy if i took my Warp-T with me . And it would be simply to much work getting it all the way from our band room to my appartement and vice versa (which is about 300km apart from each other)
So i thought that i could also leave my pedals and stuff there.
Then i knew what i needed:

1.A thing which enables me to record sound at home

2.A thing which enables me to listen to my guitar through headphones with a lot of tweaking possibilities

3.A thing that could be used as a backup possibility on gigs....

Well, let's go to the picstory. Shall we?

In the first pic we see a package.... what could be inside?

After opening the flap we see a bit more of that package. Now it's obvious, it's a Mac inside!!! Damn Macs! Linux Rulez!

Wait a second, that's not a laptop...

maybe a look from behind will tell us what this thing is... I still see no DVI or HDMI connections... it can't be a laptop then...

Now i know! It's a POD! I attach my headphones but somehow i still have the feeling that i missed something essential...

That's what i forgot, a guitar! so i take my 2228 out of the flightcase

Mwahahahaha! It glows! It glows!

A poser-shot of a guy who holds a nice guitar (without plugging it in... because there are actives in there and we don't want to waste the battery on poser-shots...)

another poser shot...

That was it. Thanks for stopping by and have a nice day

and don't forget:

Drink to forget but never forget to drink

the smell of evil stalks the land
atrocity's horizon
for Woden had unleashed his hand
and kissed the world with poison

Drink to forget but don't forget to drink

@ mike

right now i'm a bit crushed by all the options and possibilities that it'll take me days before i can tell more but untill now i fucking like it!

it's better to have to many choices than only a few (at least concerning the tone, not life in general )

i'll write how i find it soon as i am the master over this thing and not vice versa...

funny, i already wanted to start a thread because i was just thinking of getting something as a emergency-backup for gigs and i'm pretty much unfamiliar with all the POD stuff etc. so i wandered what would be the cheapest and smallest solution of all the pods (or other stuff) which would do it as a backup for live (in case tubes die at the soundcheck or something, and no noe lends me his amp or something...you know..).

@mike

I mastered this thing and all i can say: It's pretty cool. I could tweak it untill i had the few tones in my head actually in this thing. That was pretty amazing!
Right now i'm pretty happy that i bought it. If you want it to record stuff at home it's damn great if you install Line6 monkey and the rest of the software. You can even sit at your comp and tweak the tones there (pretty usefull if you have 2 monitors so you can run your recording app and the settings of the pod simultaneously -> you don't have to put it in front of you and bow down to tweak it......). You can record via usb and via a line in on your soundcard so there are a lot of possibilities and i damn like the dual tone.
The only test this thing needs to pass is on gigs. But untill i'm used to it that much and all my tones from my old boss are on it it'll take again a few weeks.
Hope this was helpful...

@petereanima

here's the pod family Line 6 - POD Family (they're listed almost at the top of the page)
I wouldn't recommend you to buy a podxt, pod2, pocketpod or a pod xt pro. I would recommend the Pod X3 Live if you want it as a backup for gigs since the Pod X3 is a bean-shaped thing that you can use only with your hands...
There's also good stuff at boss's site BOSS U.S. - Multi Effects

The best thing you could do is to go in a nearby music store where they let you test some of these...
There is also a lot of other gear but i think that someone here on the forums will chime in to widen your possibilities

i think im going to go with one of these,i have a ux1 now that i record with so im familiar with the tones and stuff.i dont use my gt6 as much these days as i dont play live, but that looks to be changing soon so the x3live sounds like my thing

i would have to disagree, i would, recommend a podxt or the xt pro, you can find them for cheap on the bay, and buy a foot switch for them, there the same thing as the x3, but the x3's have a few more possiblitys, but generaly are the same unit with different looks and a bigger price tag.
