I never owned a Mesa before February of this year and now I have serious gas for a Roadster and a Mark IV.
I never thought I could get one to 'work for me".

Can I be the devil on your shoulder?

Turns out, you really need to take them home and spend some time with them in your "comfort zone" before they click.

I, years ago, also used to think Ibanez was the ONLY way to go as far as 7 strings, because of the thin necks... Then I felt the same way about ESP/LTD in addition to IBBY. Then I realized:

A) Schecter necks aren't THAT much thicker than Ibanez necks
B) ESP/LTD necks are the SAME as Schecters (Can't tell ANY difference between my Gryphon and my friend M207)
C) The ibby necks cramp me up something awful

Now Ibanez is kinda a turn off for me.

Ignorance is not bliss. Ignorance only hides the truth. And the longer that truth has to hide, the more it stings when it makes itself known.

The Trooper is a jewel in the rough
My taste in tone hasn't changed much the years. I've always loved the sound of 2 Channel Dual Rectifier's and kept a few in the '92 to '94 range (picking up another an all black mid-90's 2 Channel Recto this week).

I've owned the same cab for about 5-6 years now, a Mesa (Traditional, Striaght) 4X12 with V30's (280W version). It's now nicely broken in from the years of use (maybe abuse is a better word) and sounds great regardles sof what we put through it.

Been using EMG's for about 5 years too and don't have a desire to look for anything different. I had an original run of the Gibson Tony Iommi Series Humbuckers (from when they literally cost 50% less than they do now) that sounded amazing and different than the current run...which I still kick myself in the ass for selling off.

Been using a high gain JJ ECC83 front end and Sovtek 5881/6L6WCG power section in all my Rectos for about 5-6 years too with great results (it's an interesting combo I recommend people try because of how they interact). So yeah, I don't think much has changed for me. I've had countless other amps I enjoyed over the years in addition, like a Mark IIC+, Mark IV, Splawn QR, etc...but the EMG loaded guitars into the 2 Channel Dual Recto with JJ/Sovteks and original Mesa V30 cab has been "my" sound for quite some time.
