i always wanted a dual or triple recti, because i thought it was THE amp. today i can't stand the sound of it, and also of the 5150, which i was also gasing for. its not that they are bad, but i hate it to hear this sound EVERYwhere. i buy a new cd - all i hear is recti and 5150. i go to a concert - all i hear is recti and 5150.

I used to pla these funny guitars with only 6 strings...

Seriously, I've gone from playing solid state to tubes, discovered that thick necks can still be fine to play (though I still prefer thin necks) and really, really, really gone off the tone of basswood.

I don't think much with me has changed over the years, I still like racks, still love UV's, kind of been that way for years now

The only thing that changed 2 years ago was discovering the joys of trying out different pickups, but that's literally been it...

The last main gear change I went through was ditching a floor based multi FX and mesa v-twin/non amp distortion and going into preamp only distortion, but that was a good 8-9 years ago now...

I am stuck in my ways sometimes!

About five years ago, I despised Rectos. Didn't want anything to do with one. I was purposely looking for an amp that sounded nothing like a Recto. Now, I couldn't see play anything else. Of course, it took me three different Recto models to find my sound, but I can honestly say that it is the first amp that gets really close to the sound I hear in my head.

It's funny, many years ago, I really disliked Ibanez...

Oh, wait, that hasn't changed.

Seriously, I've done a few little tweaks, but I've had basically the same rig since 2003. I still like maple/alder strat-shaped guitars, and alnico-magnet bridge humbuckers. I've thought seriously about buying a series II Stiletto, but I can never bring myself to part with my Triple. I, too, stick with what works for me.

Division - American metal that doesn't suck. Much. Even on MySpace, and Soundclick, too.

I think where I was going with in this thread, guys, is that if that's what I was saying even as recent as 2006, and now I'm totally sold on the very amp I was saying "just wasn't for me," that at some level you have to be open to the fact that your current opinions on gear are wrong.

I guess where I'm going is at the very worst if you make a habit of assuming everything you know could be wrong when you pick up a new peice of gear, and play with no preconceptions, then at the very least your "opinions" get proved right a lot and your ego gets boosted. And best case scenario you may find something that works even better - I'm happier with a Rectifier than I was with the Nomad, but maybe one day I'll find something I like even more.

I used to hate Peavey and Schecter.

Now I own a 5150 II and two Schecters.
