Places like American Musical Supply...

Are there any places similar to AMS that also have ENGL amps? By similar I mean, that allow for structured payments instead of the lump sum thing without having to apply for a credit card or what have you.

Dying for a new ENGL but I'll never be able to afford one if I have to save up the entire sum...

This is how people get into financial trouble... buying stuff on credit that they can't really afford. If you don't think you can save $50 a month for an amp, what makes you think you can afford to spend $50 a month for an amp?

Save up for it and buy it outright, rather than financing it and paying interest on it. You'll appreciate it more in the end.

It's not that I won't be able to AFFORD to save up for it, it's that I'm the kind of dude that literally CAN'T save. If I have money sitting in my account, impulse buys WILL drain it.

However, I CAN deal with monthly payments. I've never been screwed by monthly payments in terms of not being able to meet them, interest or otherwise. It's just how I prefer to do it.

I believe the AMS plan is interest free, they literally just break the purchase price into 3 or 5 payments.

Darren's right though...if a person can't save enough money to buy what they want (except for a house or car, or a few select other BIG purchases), they should probably re-evaluate their spendin/saving habits

Just put that $50 a month into a different bank account than the one you usually use (eg. a savings account or just a normal account that you can't lift money from with you bank card). That's how I'd do it.

Edit: In that way you'll still have the money so if something unexpected comes up, you can use that as a emergency reserve.

Now I lay me down to sleep
Blah, blah, blah my soul to keep
If I die before I wake
I'll go to hell for heaven's sake

Thanks for all those suggestions, but they're not really what I'm looking for. I'm looking for an alternative to AMS that carries ENGL, should it exist at all.

Thank you

I apologize that we do not offer this manufacturer currently. However, I have informed the appropriate people that there is a public interest for these Amps. If there is anything further that AMS can do for you at this time please let me know.

Then learn discipline and self-restraint. Seriously. What happens if you lose your job and have no savings to fall back on while looking for a new one? Get evicted?

There isn't a single piece of music gear that I've ever financed. If I cannot afford to pay for my hobbies in full, then it is a hobby I cannot afford to have. There have been several occasions where my savings toward a piece of gear had to pay for an unforeseen emergency, and while I was a bit bitter at the time about it, I was always glad that I had several hundred (or more) in savings, rather than another monthly bill.

Agreed 100%. So many people get into financial trouble by making the same excuse over and over. "I don't have the discipline to save for anything, but have no problem paying monthly payments."

This is exactly the thinking that sparked the sub-prime mortgage meltdown that's currently decimating the already fragile American economy. Too many people taking on debt that they couldn't really afford to. We North Americans are addicted to instant gratification in many forms, and when it comes to money, free and easy credit is a quick fix for that addiction.
