Pedal Power Supplies
Hey guys,
As you've seen, I have my amp rig all sorted now, so the next endeavor (probably after a pickup and tremolo replacement on my main 7) is a rack. What I'm curious about is what kind of pedal power supply banks are available, so I can mount all pedals in a rack, and not have to worry about battery changes and the like. Now I have one which does the standard Centre Pin Negative at 9 volts, but it adds noise to some pedals I've used. Also, my HBE Germania (treble booster), runs on Centre Pin Positive. The only one I know which runs both of these is the Voodoo Labs Pedal Power 2, all well and good, except £150 for a PSU is a bit steep when I only use £180 worth of effects pedals. I was thinking of getting hold of a standard 9V Centre Pin Negative one so I have the option of a couple more pedals in future, and then a separate one for the HBE, but if there are any reasonable priced ones around that don't add noise, and can cater to the HBE, then I'm all ears ![]() |

I have a Voodoo Labs PP2+ which I got here in the U.S. for about $160 which is half the £150 you mentioned. I have about 9 pedals, including a center positive fuzz. It's ideal and works great because of the isolated outputs. If the PP2+ is too expensive in the UK, how about the T-Rex Fuel Tank? Thats a quality unit. Check the price and features.

Yeah the Pedal Power is the one which was £150 over here, that T-Rex might fit the bill just nicely though....
Thanks muchly, I'll look into that one ![]() |

I've looked into the Boss ones before, and they are really bad to be honest, find if you are power one or two pedals, but this will be powering a MIDI looper by Axess too, which specifically state do not use them as they are known to damage them.
I think I'll get something like a DC Brick, and just find or make a reversing polarity cable. Either that or I might mod the pedal itself, be a lot easier that way..... |

I use this one:
Visual Sound 1 SPOT Combo Pack and more Power Supplies at GuitarCenter.com. and it works great for up to like 20 pedals Oh wait your in europe so that might not work for you
Each guitarist has an evil fat 40 year old blueswankler trying to get out, If you give in to temptation you'll be sitting next to a fender playing john lee hooker while trying to keep your combover in place. - Desecrated

In the category of wall wart replacements, the VS 1-spot is good, as is the Godlyke - both way better than Boss or BBE and reasonably cheap. I hear conflicting reports about whether 1-spots add noise. A lot depends on what you are powering and how poorly designed its circuits are. But if you have different polarities or sensitive pedals or devices to deal with then you need something better. The DC Brick is supposed to be decent, but I don't think its outputs are isolated.
