![]() ![]() ![]() | Sure! The top 5 I posted are just my top 5 favourite amps, so of course there are more amps to choose from. In that price range, you should check the Peavey JSX, 6505 and 6505+ and the ENGL Fireball and Powerball. They are all able to do the chunky metal stuff just fine. The Peavey 6505 has been on countless metal albums, like Carcass' Heartwork, Chimaira's albums, almost all of the Machine Head albums, and it sounds killer. I used to own one, and it sounded great. It was just a bit too one dimensional for me. It was easy as hell to record though! But for technical riffage etc. I would personally go with an ENGL. |

![]() | The ENGL does sound great....The only thing that I dont like about the 6505 is that it sounds to "Dirty" if you know what I mean....It's not all clear and stuff...I never really got to the poing where I could get a good sound out of it...So I kinda had a bad expirience with it. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | tip: keep the gain as low as you possibly can. crank the amp as loud as you possibly can. boost it with the best boost you can get your hands on. hello clarity, articulation and tight low end ![]() oh, and know how to EQ. 3 cheers for free gear! , i didn't like 5150's much, thought they were too fizzy and thin, then got one, discovered most people don't eq them properly and that biasing makes the difference (as well as GOOD tubes, the stock ones aren't very good and don't do it justice) | |

![]() | FJA mods, look it up on google, they do everything for you, you just mail your head over with the money and tell what you want done, they do it, and send it back, and its really cheaper then getting a $2000 amp that doesn't really need any mods |
