![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | regarding the bands you mentioned, i'd get a dual rec. With a TS in front, you can definitely get a nice thick and raw nevermore-like tone out of it. Though, recto's are a bitch to dial in properly and don't sound particularly good at lower volumes. |

my fireball, but i think it's still not as raw and thick sounding as a recto. I like the fireball BY FAR over the powerball. The powerball is the less raw and more processed sounding out of the two. I think the fireball/powerball excel at single-note riffery at lower tunings and extremely tight palm-muting (think meshuggah, textures), since they are very tight and articulate. They're too metallic-sounding (or djenty) for getting that raw, thick sound like on the aforementioned nevermore albums, IMO. For me, Scar symmetry is a good example of what a fireball is capable of. | ||

![]() | Chimaira use 6505's. As previously mentioned they might be modded. 6505's are great sounding amps, which can be surprisingly tight with an OD. Much tighter than a Recto. IMO. Depending on how much yours willing to spend, i would look into ENGL's Fireball/Invader/Savage/Powerball, Soldano SLO100, Splawn Nitro. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Well if money is not a problem like you stated then you should check out a Diezel Herbert or a VHT Ultra lead. I have a Mesa dual rec right now but would love to get rid of that for a Diezel or VHT. But as always you cant really go wrong with a Mesa or a 5150/6505 if you wanna keep things a little cheaper. |
