![]() | First of all, I'd like to formally introduce myself. I'm 17 and I've been playing guitar for about 4 1/2 years. ![]() Since I've decided that guitar is definitely something I want to be serious about, I need something to replace the Crate amp I purchased several years ago. I can't stand listening to it anymore. ![]() I'd like not to exceed $1500 altogether. I've been looking at cabs and it seems like I can get a reliable 2x12 (probably a Vader, maybe Avatar) for around $400. I'm probably going to get a good OD (Barber or Bloody Murder) to run in front, which leaves me about $1000 for an amp head. You all seem very knowledgeable, so I am open to suggestions. I'm looking for a tight sound with lots of midrange cut but without harsh highs. Used is an option as long as it's still in good condition. I'm leaning towards tubes, but wouldn't be against a good solid-state head either. There are currently two Nomad 100 heads (one 6L6, one EL34) on EBay. Would these be good for what I'm looking for? Thanks for reading. ![]() The only creative accounting I have seen is Bush's plan to balance the budget by 2015. Unless, of course, he plans on skyrocketing the debt at such a rate to approach infinity on an asymptote, causing a giant budget calculator divide by zero error that reboots the country. -Noodles Your will to be and your spirit can both be shattered and your want to be you can be taken away, but your true self can NEVER die and can NEVER be drained from your body. -DevourTheDamned |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Well, there should be no choice for OD, you should just get the Bloody Murder ![]() ![]() The nomad is a cool amp, keep in mind you can also find 5150's, and 5150 II's on eBay for abouy $800ish too. And plus they fit your " lots of midrange cut but without harsh highs" description pretty well. ![]() In any language that you learn to speak -- love is twisted and defined as weak TheMissing's GAScon status: GAScon 3... ![]() there should ALWAYS be choice . have you ever tried the Barber stuff? it's different but definitely on the same level. for his needs though, the BM is probably a better choice. | |

![]() | My only worry with the 5150 is that I won't be able to get a passable clean out of it. But I'll definitely consider. Thanks guys. ![]() |

I have a radical idea. The door swings both ways, we could reverse the particle flow through the gate. We'll cross the streams. |

(sry had to) You'll have cash left over for an ISP Decimator and a graphic EQ too (Boss GE-7).
