![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | so i've narrowed down to these: BOSS TU2 Korg DT-10 Korg Pitchblack Planet Waves CT-04 i'm leaning towards getting the korg pitchblack since it's actually true bypass, cheaper, and more compact. Any reason i should go for another tuner? I know the strobostomp is supposed to be great, but it's way too expensive... |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I would take any claim of 'true bypass' with a few grains of salt. The BOSS buffers are really good, and help a lot with longer cable runs, and sadly 'true bypass' has turned into a jingle that means 'well, we said something that people think makes them sound like they know what they're talking about, now we can charge $30 more for it' so it really can't be trusted. Quick test... if you can try the pitchblack in person, take the battery out and try to run your guitar through it. If you still get signal through the 'bypassed' mode with no battery in the back, it might be true bypass. Then try the TU-2, which is in my opinion the best buy out of all of those, and see if you can actually hear 'tone-sucking' or whatever other bullshit the 'true bypass or you're a n00b' wannabe tone-snobs think justifies their huge overspending. I would go TU-2, without a shadow of a doubt. It will survive anything, and you'll be buying dependability and quality instead of bullshit buzzwords. Jeff |

![]() ![]() ![]() | dont really know about the other ones so carefull about what I say here. I have the DT-10 and really like it. it tracks everything I throw at it no problem and is fast and accurate at that, guitar, bass, everything its really sturdy with full metal casing and all and hardly has any effect on the tone (I think it sucked a tiny bit of high-end but it might actually sound better than with that high-end lol its definitally nothing you'd notice without a direct A/B within short time) |

![]() | I have a TU-2 and the other guitarist in my band has a korg dt-10. Both very good, reliable tuners. I can't really recommend the one over the other as they are both great tuners. I have to agree with JBroll about the true bypass thing. At least I can't hear any tonesucking. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Never had that problem with the tuner... had that a couple of times, but with some Tejano station... the guitar and amp picked it up on their own. There's no sense in complaining about the noise from an NS-2 if it's used right, considering how well the average guitar is shielded, how decent most cables in use are (No, I don't care how much you paid for them, Monster cables are NOT high-quality!), and how much gain the amp deals with... don't we have noise gates for a reason? ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | That's good, doing research is always nice. However, I still have to question whether or not true bypass is really all that great, especially considering how dopey some gear makers are and how well guitar players often equip themselves. Jeff |
