In addition to a Hot Plate, pedal needed?
Attenuator obviously will be a THD Hot Plate.
So what kind of pedal should I get? JoBo OD or something? Right now without the Hot Plate it's hard to get a tone down...I think I'm tone-confused. |

dude, yeah, you NEED the hotplate. mesa triple at low volumes just wont be worth a damn unless you got it cranked to the hotplate.
you also really do want a good boost up front. works wonders on almost any tube amp out there. People are huge on the Bloody murder, but as far as ive heard its a bit bassy, and with a mesa that could be a bit much. im a low end fiend though so id probably fine with it, but id ask joe what he thinks is best

+1 on the hotplate. I happen to live where I can crank my amps whenever I want but for most home situations a hotplate is a must with a triple!
Aboot mah pedals. The Bloody Murder DOES NOT add any bass before the amp. This is a common misconception. A stock tubescreamer starts rolling off low frequencies below 720Hz, a Bloody Murder starts rolling them off at about 440Hz. It still cuts out some bass which is why it still has a tightening effect. My filter just gets along well with low tunings where I think a stock TS totally ruins a low B. You get more bass by plugging straight in than with any kind of boost pedal. That said if you're wanting to go cheap after all these recent investments I have a Chaos modded SD-1 I'd let go really cheap! It's got a beat up paint job but works 100%. The SD-1 is the pedal I can make sound closest to the BM ![]() IMO a recto NEEDS an OD pedal more than any other amp! It's night and day with them and once you step on a boost you'll never be able to live without one again! It will help you saturate the preamp and get better tones at low volumes as well. I now feel like a better man since I noticed I made ibzorange's sig!!! Raptor Jesus FTW! |
