Negative. Quite the opposite. The SLO has a clean channel and the Avenger does not. The Avenger is just the overdrive channel of the SLO.

Having played the Avenger, don't believe the sales literature. The Avenger was nice, but no nicer than a Recto's high gain channel. I don't think it has the same trannys, which is what really makes the SLO100 shine. I've been considering picking up a second Roadster, and a couple of Mercury Magentics trannys to drop in it.

Either way, I just couldn't see spending the kind of dough that an SE goes for. They are just ridiculously priced. I could get a Soldano SLO100 for that kind of cash, and I don't think there is an amp on the planet that sounds anywhere near as good as that one.

You'll have to go try one, and record a video.

Also, I'd point out that the likes of the SLO, Road King or VHT UL would cost far more than an SE in Europe, I'd actually kinda agree with you on the pricing. I think since the Invader came out, I'm not so sure about the SE, in the sense that there's quite a lot of tech and more functionality in there, but does all that really cost a whole thousand euro more? So I do kinda agree with you there.

But, if that kinda sound is what you're after, there really is no substitute for the SE, and there's no settling for second best even if the price is a bit steep. Rven thinking about those smooth, liquidy leads makes me go all gassy inside. And there is still no better looking amp out there:

Blue LEDs I'll probably change them to red.

I still find the fact that they released two different SE 'models' hilarious since they're identical except for the LED and power switch colors

yep, damn hilarious indeed, and i must say i was upset when i got my EL34 SE and it had red lights but apparently not all EL34 SEs had the blue lights or power switch, the early ones where just red.
