Throw it in the effects loop of your Rect and find out =P
BBE's shit will either compliment your sound, or completely destroy it. Use your ears to decide. Also, do NOT trust the bypass switch. Unplug it completely when trying it out.
Your ass here!

No experience with the 402, but the 362, i found as i replaced tubes and actually got better preamps, etc, in my rack when i had it, i stopped using the 362. To me, its kind of a temporary band aid thing, just my opinion.

![]() You can try it in front as well if the loop doesn't sound good, but the loop is recommeded. This little box can make even the shittiest solid state amp sound godlike (My friends marshall MG100 sounds amazing) but tube amps are hit or miss. They work great in a Marshall TSL100, but didn't work in my B52 well. I've seen them in recto rigs, and they seem to work well. Use it sparignly, Put the knobs at 12 and move up/down from there, I've only had to turn the knobs all the way up when I used it in my tone port, as for some reason that was the only way I could get a noticeable change from it. I wouldn't neccesarily call it a band aid, but after hearing what it can do to a $300 amp... Spending $100 to get a little more life out of an amp is cheaper than a new amp. It's a good way to hold someone over until they get a new amp, etc.
You shake your ass but you're already dead.

I would never use a BBE on a Mesa. All you need is a tube screamer out front, and the right tubes.

BBE's neuter a amp, it takes the rawness that should naturally be there and add this HiFi timbre, to it that to my ears is super high frequencies and sub bass. I guess its ok if you are Satriani or Vai or a solo guitarist experememnting with diffrent sounds. I personally think the BBE is more of a mixdown tool not something that should be used in a guitar rig. to me its more of a novelty than anything, there are better alternatives for tone shapeing IMO.

I owned a 402 for 16 years and now have the 482i. Each is a great piece of equipment. It has been an important part of my sound ever since I heard what one did for my guitar teacher's MKIII rig back in 1990. It made my JCM900 a beast, my fireball more of a beast, and I'll see what it does for my Laney AOR when the fx loop is installed. It even works miracles in your stereo system. Imagine hearing your amp, or stereo so clean and clear, and pure.
