Valvestate vs8100 vs. AVT100 head?

I've played my fair share of 8100's throughout the years and while I'm sure it's not everyone's cup o' tea I enjoyed this amp for what it did. The thing is, they're getting kind of hard to find, so here's my question.

Does anyone know how the AVT head sounds compared to the original valvestate? I never got around to playing the AVT, but do see it around a little more than the 8100.

i own the 8100 for aprox. 5-6 years now, and had to play over an AVT head for a little while in the rehearsal room. the AVTs are awful and it was a pain in the ass, they do not come even near to the tone the 8100 (and also the second sereis, the VS100) deliveres. while the 8100 has amore organic and raw high gain tone, the AVT sounded high-fizzling and muddy because they tried to make him sound "modern", but they failed. horrible evolution in this series.

i've seen a few 8100's up for sale, they're not too hard to find.

3 cheers for free gear!

Some of my favorite recorded guitar tones were 8100's ... Great little amps.

Check out Prong: Cleansing... 8100 all the way.

Awesome sounding amps used to own one back in the day.

Doesn't Tommy Victor from Prong use the MG heads now tho?

8100 I like, played an AVT, and something newer as well, and abolutely hated the newer thing, really did.

8100 is an amp I may have to try and get at some point, it is fun!

Shannon just got an AVT150

as for the 8100...I always hated it, but less than the AVT combos they had at my Uni's practice space
