skeeballcore is on a distinguished road
I forgot about the MG series, how do they compare to the older valvestates?

I dunno about the older valvestates, but if you actually know what you're doing they will sound fine. a BIG trick to getting one to sound better, which i was shown by my ex-roomie (hadnt seen anyone do this before) was to lean the amp against the wall so the speaker aims up towards the room. holy crap does the sound spread make a difference!

on the 100DFX, keep it on OD1, put the gain to taste, dont cut the mids any, turn it up to a reasonable volume - and it sounds just fine. my buddy with his gibbo SG hung with my LP and my JSX no problemo - and cut through.. a little too well.. lol. so i took care of the palm muting side of things haha.

not a terrible amp if you're good with an EQ, but most of the guys who buy one are lookin for some more power and 2 channels, so they tend to sound like carp when you hear them.

3 cheers for free gear!

Avt100 sucks all kind of ass.

the 8100 however is the best non all valve amp that marshall made. and it sounds incredible!

i had a valvestate combo and that amp kicked all kinds of ass! i used it live for soo many times and never had a problem and its distortion sounded very very good for what it was... sounds a lot better than the new AVTs which are nothing but buzzy

The Struggle to free Myself from Restraints, becomes my very shackles...

Well, I have played with a few, and good is an overstatement. In my opinion, you can make them sound acceptable. They sound like a crate flexwave with a different mid voicing to me.
