So, I've heard you can swap KT77s for EL34s in just about any amp. What if you have an 6L6 based amp... can you swap in KT77s for those???

...there is no emoiticon to express what I'm feeling...

I'm not a tube afficionado like many on here, but i think KT77 correspond to El34's and KT88's are the equivalent for 6L6's.

could be wrong though

The KT-77's are direct drop ins for EL34's.
If your amp is only set up for 6L6's then you can try KT-88's and I think the KT-66's, but you'd be best off calling BOB at Eurotubes or Doug at Dougstubes and asking them.
I have no Idea what the 6V6 is a replacement for, but some of the guys on the boogie forum rave about them.

Can I be the devil on your shoulder?

The KT88 are 6550 equivalents. The KT 66 and 5881 tubes are 6L6 equivalents.

AARRGGHHH will become famous soon enough
what are the sound differences between KT66, 5881 and 6L6's. Because my amp uses 5881's but I always thought that was basically just another name for 6L6's
