I am currently in the market for a 2x12 and I am really digging these cabinets at the moment!! Question is though, what speakers should I get to complement my VHT UL-100? Should I go with eminence p50s? That would be pretty close to the VHT 2x12 FatBottom cab, well at least I hope so. But, since the speakers are front mount in the VHT cabs and the Avatar cabs are rear mount, would it still sound good? Any other recommendations for speakers? Any advice will be appreciated.

Also, what color(s) do you think my cab should be to match the VHT well. For the record, purple is a no go!!

Also, how is the quality of the Avatar cabs? Again, thanks in advance!!

green cab. i dunno what nick's experience with cabs is, but i'd get an unloaded 212 and locate some used WGS British Leads - celestion classic lead 80/Mesa C90 type speakers. very neutral, so you can pump those mids without fear of flubby low end or harsh highs

everyone says p50e's, but I know that I am looking for a full set of c85's (like c90's) as I really quite liked the sound through them.

Then again, I think this amp sounds good through most cabs, although that is mainly marshalls I've been running it through. Also sounds good through the v30's in the orange cabs I have as well...

Actually, I know Zimbloth will chime in with getting a VHT cab, for me, due to them being too much cash over here it isn't an option really, but if you can try one, I would.

I keep reading that the Fatbottom 2x12 really is the best 2x12 for the UL. But I don't really see my self forking out that kind of money for a 2x12. At all.

James, you used to have one didn't you? I remember reading either here or over at vhtusers.com that you had one. How did it perform? What didn't you like about it? Do you think that it brought out qualities of the amp that only it could do? I really want a 2x12 for bringing all over the place.

Right now, I am really considering that Avatar. Though, I must wonder how it compares to say, an Earcandy Buzzbomb or G-flex 2x12? With it not being ported, will it still have that good of bass response or are ports really not needed? Well anywhoozers, thats about it for now.

Meh, i sold the fat bottom 2x12 i got with the UL. Was nice, but I had no need for a 2x12. It was very dry, and i never got to crank it as I didn't have a hotplate. Plus, yes, they are expensive.

Personally I'd rather get a well constructed cab like the oranges i got, and then play around with speakers. For me as I have 3 amp rigs (the rack with triaxis/rivera and the 5150) I really want cabs that'll work well with all of them, plus I tend to EQ towards knowing I'll have to use a marshall cab for gigs, as usually you end up sharing cabs anyway.

As far as 2x12's go, I avoid them and have basically, bar the fat bottom 2x12 i sold, no experience with them!

Im pretty sure the earcandy and avatar cabs will be on par. steer clear of that G-flex "ported for more low end!" Ok but we aren't bassists lol.
