![]() ![]() ![]() | I am baaaaack! ...now with a little comparison clip I made with my Triple Recto to show the differences the amps have in tone. Of course the amps are dialed to achieve a similar tone, because that's what I like, but what the heck The Recto was on the red channel, modern, bold, diode SoundClick artist: TomiR - page with MP3 music downloads The other clip is my Triple Recto and the other one is my Invader playing the same riff (the chug part is a bit different though) Same gear as before: Hellraiser C7, TS9, Mesa Recto 4X12", SM57, Focusrite Saffire PRO. Sorry guys, still no drums ![]() |

![]() | I really liked that riff man, very cool, and I totally love that Engl clip! I just got my Diamond Spec Op, and want to AB it with my Uberschall, I just need to get a recording setup again! Sounds like what you have is aces! The Engl is REALLY tight and crunchy, showcases a really dry dry tone, very much what I envision in my head from an amp! bang on there man! Now to get my Spec Op sounding that way hahaha Cheers! C |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Extreme bummer! Crap, it seems like my Invader needs to go back for repair. Well, the amp is brand new so it is under warranty, so no problem. ENGL's have a good reputation of being built like tanks and it is not often you hear one being broken. BUT... When I got it, the first preamp tube went microphonic after a couple hours of playing. Well, it thought it was not a big deal since even new tubes can do that, so I put in a new one, it did the same thing. I was stupid enough to try three times... It is always the first preamp tube that goes microphonic, and it seems like activating the high gain mode usually is what causes it, or maybe it is just a lot more audible that way... No, I haven't used extreme gain/eq settings, I haven't exposed it to extreme feedback etc. so there is nothing I have done to that could cause this. This is a total bummer, since this amp really is starting to be my all time favourite amp. I LOVE the tone and the ease of use. I had just found my ideal settings, the sound that I have been hearing in my head all this time. And when sending something for repair usually takes weeks or even months, since the store where I bought it from sends it to the Finnish ENGL importer and if they don't know how to fix it, they'll send it to Germany. So it will be gone for a long time. It's good that Finland is not that far away from Germany... So sorry DiezelMonster, can't make new clips now... And well, I still have my Triple Rectifier so things are not that bad ![]() Anybody else have similar experiences with ENGL gear? Last edited by Shaman; 04-26-2008 at 03:53 PM.
