![]() ![]() | What size speaker is enough for... What size speaker is enough to get a normal tone? I mean, an 8" speaker, like in my Peavey Rage combo, will always sound bright. And if I play just a bit louder, the speaker start to buzz, and makes an irritating sharp noise. So, what size of speaker is good to get a natural tone, and won't buzz? a 10" speaker is good for practicing "loud" on a 30W combo? Thanks in advance! |

![]() ![]() | Thanks! Just because I would like to buy a new practice amp, the Cube 30 or the 20X, and Peavey combo's 8" inch speaker sometimes start to buzz, and maybe the Cube 30's 10" inch speaker can solve that problem, but it's a bit more expensive. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | your rage shouldnt be giving you trouble unless a) your EQ'ing isnt too dandy or b) you've turned it up too loud. 3 cheers for free gear! "Do you like burned toast with your JAM? cuz we're on FIRE!" ![]() |

![]() ![]() | Well, my EQ is in the middle, I never used it. I usually turn my PreGain to 10 and my Postgain to 1,5 so it's not very loud, but with lots of distortion. I turned the Postgain (which is the volume?) to 5 only maybe two times. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | pre = distortion post = loud Does the speaker still crap out when you turn down the gain and turn up the volume? Like i said, maybe there's a certain frequency in the distortion that doesn't agree with the speaker, so either turn it down, EQ it out, or try a different distortion in front of the amp. |
