OrsusMetal is a jewel in the rough
I'm going to try replacing the V1 preamp tube, and go down the line after that. What is biasing? Is that only for the powertubes, or does that come into play with the preamp tubes as well? Also, I'm not sure what brand tubes this "tech" put in. Do I need to use the same tubes if I'm only replacing one, or can I mix and match?

I'm going to try and get some of those preamp tube covers again too. And if either of those don't fix the problem, then take it to some tech, giving I find a good one.

What if I can't get it that loud? This amp is possibly the loudest thing I've EVER heard. No joke, it's ridiculous. The loudest I have ever gotten it is 2. Keep in mind, it's a single channel head with one master volume. With the volume at 2, I'm drowning out the rest of the band, which includes the drummer, other guitarist etc. And I'm only going through a single 4x12.

Is there any suggestions you have for this? I'm wanting to get rid of the 4x12 and replace it with a Vader 2x12. And I know about attenuators, but I've never actually heard much about them, as to which is best. Any suggestions on those? Or, any other suggestions in general?

You guys are A-W-E-S-O-M-E to the MAX!

there's a "what is a tube amp and what do i need to know?" thread stickied at the top of this page.

I highly suggest you read it

as for attenuators, search threads - it has come up a bit lately.

3 cheers for free gear!

Most amps will have the ability to have two of its powertubes pulled (from what I understand they run in pairs, so you could pull 2 tubes, and pull the wattage down) which wont make it not loud, but it will let you sweep the volume a little bit more.

NAG (lol), I'd prefer an attenuator then pulling 2 tubes..

that's the thing about owning a single channel amp - ya got what ya got.

Hotplate, or a 150watt(have to go overwattage) Weber Mass. Should be able to push it to about 4-5, which is sweet with these. That volume unattenuated could shatter windows 2 blocks over with a Laney GH though, I'm not joking.
