![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Norbert may have just died :( I went downstairs to give Norbert some love, and noticed I had left him on overnight He was on standby though. I played him for like 2 minutes, then he powered off, and will no longer turn on I meant to go back to playing last night but I forgot So, what are my possibilities? There MIGHT be a tech I could take him to, but this city is pretty low on repair type dudes for amps. |

Try unplugging it and plugging it back in and starting it up again. Leaving it on standby shouldn't hurt anything. In fact, it's actually better for the tubes! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Most likely a tube died and took out that fuse. Fuses don't just blow for no reason! You are lucky the fuse blew as it's there to protect everything else. I'm known to leave my amps on standby for days and I've never had a problem. Some amp builders and techs actually recommend it. Something else happened! My guess is a tube. It's not necessarily the power tubes either. My XXX blew a fuse once and it turned out to be a bad phase inverter tube. It's also possible that there was a power surge/spike in your house while you were in your room watching porno all night (I know you don't sleep). Put a new fuse in and if it immediately blows take it to a tech. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hmm... what's a symptom of tubes dying? I have been having crackling, but I noticed that with both sets of KT88's I've put in that they crackle a bit. I DID just get an attenuator, but I'm not cranking the shit out of my amp and taking it down to bedroom levels, I have the amp on 4 and attenuate it down to mildly loud. If it's a bad tube I don't know if I should put KT88's in again, as I've had bad luck with them, and like I said, BOTH sets crackled a bit, which I take is a bad thing And if it WAS a power surge/spike, I'm pretty fucking pissed then because I just dropped like $150 on a power conditioner.EDIT: And by KT88's I mean KT77's. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Take it from a lifetime tech: Fuses do blow for no reason related to a failure in the amp. I've seen them just go out of spec, especially when they were under current for an extended time. I ALWAYS buy extra fuses for my stuff. Like Joe said, Quote:

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Should I possibly put in a slightly lower rated fuse to be safe and see if that blows? I'm thinking that might protect it somewhat, and if its fine, put in a regular fuse? |
