It reminds me of how much money it will cost when I eventually destroy my tube amp due to stupidity.

Remember that these things use a technology from early in the last century, AND, unlike almost everything else made today, new tubes are not really made better than the old ones were. Capacitors and resistors have come a long way, but tubes.....

There really isn't anything expensive in the tube part of an amp except the transformers, which are stupidly expensive! In fact, if JJ's amp blows a fuse again right away, I'd look at the transformers first.

JJ, you are really thinking too hard about this.

If you have another set of tubes, pop those in, along with a new fuse. If it works fine, then you can try switching back to the old set. If it pops, you know you have a bad tube. If not, it was probably something like random like a power surge from the house power.

If it pops on the new set of tubes, take it to a tech. If you don't have another set of tubes, just replace the fuse and see if it pops again.

Actually, I'd suspect a grid resistor before a transformer, considering that this is a modern amp. It is not unusual at all for a bad tube to take one or more out.
