Autofate is a jewel in the rough
Anyone here using solid state racks?

Im thinking of picking up some new gear, a Rocktron Prophecy II and some power amp, but Im thinking of trying a SS power amp like the Rocktron Velocity or Tech21 Power Engine, does anyone here have any experience with either of these or a 100% SS rack at all?

Thoughts comments suggestions,

FYI my current rig is a Tri-Axis through a Mesa 2:100 so I know all about tube setups.

i own a prophesy and its alright. it's got a preamp tube in it. The cleans are really nice and the effects are decent. there is some really deep editing on them. i prefer tube gear and would only use it live if the rest of my gear broke.

<- 100% SS, discounting the single 12AX7 in my preamp, which I only use to color clean tones.

I'm guessing digital doesn't count?

7StringofAblicK-This is my footswitch. it changes channels on my amp - just like on a television, but I only have four channels.

Digital>SS

SS sounds really broken when you connect a high gain pre, like a racktifier.

I use a GT-6 into a Crate PowerBlock... so my rig is digital and solid state.

And i seem to get all kinds of compliments on my tone(s).

Alekke will become famous soon enough
SS stuff sound better for more technical, experimental and industrial metal.
They are colder with more clarity. Though, you'll need poweramp with a lot of power (headroom).
Tech 21 powerengine is super fine instrument poweramp. The best on the market. We use it with V-amp Pro.
We also use CRATE SPA-200 ss poweramp, but with engl 530. A little poorer on low end but still enough headroom and punch.
