the screamer is indeed the best option and yess it sounds good at low bedroom levels my fireball does . the screamer is a very decent combo if u need more drive put a mxr gt overdrive in front of the preamp.

ps dont wast your money on an attenuator they will only affect the amps natural tone and offcourse there not used for bedroom levels more 4 gig and band practice volumes .

russ, you're talking out your ass. anything put in front of an amp will affect its tone, but hark! we buy pedals anyway.

when you're playing a show or you're at a jam, you usually have more freedom to crank your amp. its at home where you want that "its on 8!" tone with the "it's on 0.7!" volume.

to the OP: if you're getting a tube amp, and you live in an apartment, get an attenuator.

3 cheers for free gear!

"Do you like burned toast with your JAM? cuz we're on FIRE!"

I don't want any overdrive or distortion pedals. If I were to go that route, I would buy a JC-120 instead, and stick some pedals in front.

i used to hate the thought of boosting too, didn't see the point.

my TS is never leaving the front of my amp. it just turned the jsx into what i wanted it to be, and that's worth $85 IMO.

try boosting, you'd be suprised.

Well...I just placed my order! After watching and hearing many clips, reading countless reviews, and asking opinions, I placed my order for an ENGL Blackmore. I won't have a cab for some time, but let's see what happens. Thanks to all who gave me their opinions!

bro the antenuator isnt going to give this guy cranked amp tone at low bedroom levels its not designed for that i know i had a thd .there designed for gigs and practices to get the best ie sweet spotf rom your amp without making u and everyone else deaf in the club.also the od i only mentioned that if the guy here in question wants to drive the gain level of the screamer at lower volumes .the screamer has'nt as much gain as the other amps in question so he might want to to tighten and boost the gain channel for metal etc etc offcourse pedals effect the tone but if he gets a good overdrive with true bypass then he set!ie when not being used in the chain it won't affect the amps tone now will it?

ps dont turn the blackmore on without it being linked to a cab or u wil seriously damage the transformer wait till u get the right cabinet .

ok the blackmore good choice and nice amp congrads uwnt need an od for that amp it has plenty of gain were as the screamer is limited a bit on that front.

Practice space isn't an option because right now I'm not playing in any bands or anything, so I just don't see the need to rent something that I'm gonna use alone. I do want to play in a band in a future, but I just want a good amp that will be able to handle anything.

but you wont stay bandless forever right ? how long would it take you to find one ?

cos when you do.. youd still have to buy an amp for band practice right ?
