You put it between speaker and amp, AND it allows me to use a halfstack at home PLUS get the sound of it being cranked without annoying my neighbours. So what, you may say, but, a 50w tube amp is still going to be loud, there's no way around that, and for it to sound good you'll have to be running it louder than the levels you'll want at home. Yes, it's 300$, BUT, it's the best money I've ever spent. I can play my nice amps at home, and I can have awesome tone, and I don't get the enviromental health trying to bust down my door for noise polution. but, if you do have your heart set on a combo, then I'd still advise getting an attenuator, if just to actually get the benefit of tubes at a sane volume... |

![]() | go on eurotubes and they will sell you a very nice weber attenuator for about 160 bucks. ive been tempted as i have a similar situation to yours, but i dont have the $$ yet. The Smart Gate will quiet anything down![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Well... After all I read, I did remember my Nomad 55 sounded very loud, compared to my 6505+. Taking this into consideration, I placed an order for the ENGL Blackmore. I think this amp will satisfy my tone-needs, and seems like well built. |
