Thumbs up Traynor YCS100H

hail. no, seriously.

Traynor Amps: All Tube Guitar Heads

Ok, i spent some time on this bad boy with a gibson LP studio.

channel one: HAHA traynor made me a good high gain channel! ! Boost this and it will sound monstrous. i had the EQ all at 8, presence and resonance up around 6.5, had to use more gain then usual as i wasnt boosting it. yes, i think this amp can hang with my jsx/a recto/5150 etc. there's your modern switch, the scoop switch, solo boost

channel 2: kind of like going from the ultra channel to crunch on the jsx, only ch1 and ch2 on the YCS are very very close. ch2 is much the same as ch1 with a touch less gain, and a more raw voicing - but not by much. i didnt really try any lower gain settings, because i know that traynors are great for them. i DID own a YCV80

channel 3, the clean channel: yup. its still here. it still kicks all sorts of ass. chimey, full, warm, lush reverb (there's reverb on all 3 channels btw). back off on the treble, push the mids and the bass, and i love that tone!

there's also a solo function over all channels, master volume, gain and volume knob per channel so you can get a pushed clean - on clean. this amp also goes to 30W class A, which could be handy for those random 70's rock sessions with the gibson haha.

all in all, im very impressed with this amp. traynor did their homework, and this is a killer high gain, modern day head most players should take a look at. It's feature loaded, built in canada, and affordable! the 412 cab is loaded with G12T-75's - sounded good to me.

This amp is under $1000CAD new!

if ANY of you guys have a traynor dealer where you can test this out, i urge you to! I kind of want one to KT-77 and boost, it would actually have a shot at overtaking the JSX.

bottom line: great for high gain metal, and all other styles? AND probably the best clean channel i've ever heard? for less then a USED something else? (if i can find one used for a decent price, im on it.. when i have $700 to spend )

3 cheers for free gear!

Tried a traynor once, they are really good amps and cheap as hell. The one I tried was like 800 dollars here, so I think that there it would be like 500 more or less.

they're all under $1K new as far as i know. basically the YCV line was a "lets see how people respond to traynor making tube amps again", and then they got feedback, and beefed 'em up for the YCS line.

pretty sweet if you ask me haha

what model did you try?

I'd love to try one, but I seriously doubt I'll find a dealer in a 500 miles radius...
