Supreme 160 and an older Peavey 412 with Scorpion/Sheffields in it = crushing combo of doom and all the volume you'll ever need.

Edit: Unless you join Manowar.

The Behringer BG412 cabs aren't too bad, either. Especially the older ones with the Jensen speakers, from what i've read.

Really? That kind of blows. Still, if he can swing it, you're not going to do better than a 5150 on the cheap for metal.

Yeah, I turned down 3 5150s about 6-7 years ago for about $400 each. All of them the "Block Letter", not that it really matters. Wasn't into the tone of them(course, none of them were biased right, f'ing Peavey).

Bugera wouldn't be able to sell 5150 clones for $400 if you could get the real thing for close to it.

I've heard of the Bugera but never HEARD the Bugera. That's not a bad price actually. All tube if I remember corrrectly, right?

Thanks guys. What do any of you think about the ENGL e530 rack preamp with a cheaper poweramp? The e530 is $510 brand new and I've seen some cheap poweramps, but, I don't know how the poweramps effect the tone since I really don't know much about the whole setup. Would you have to go into a cab or could you plug that setup into a p.a. system?

get all used, if you're on a budget.

personally i'd get a behringer cab w/ the jensens and a peavey XXL head. and it would sound wicked

3 cheers for free gear!

I'll definately tell him to look into the 6505s. What about the 6505+? Will that add too much and take away from the clarity? I've gotten to play on one shortly, but not any of my own material.

Yeah, the Bugeras are all tube. I may be trying them out tomorrow if I'm out at Peeler and they got em', I'll tell you what I think of em'.

That would be a pretty good solution too, if you can find one used somehow I would say grab that and maybe a cheap Peavy tube poweramp, check the 'bay!

I'm assuming he's going to want to mass produce these rack pies, and why not? I love racks, I love pies, so put them together and you have pie covered titties.
