I HATE to hear "something is too much..so I'll settle for this". If you really need something, for a gig or whatever then fine. But I'd strongly suggest buying an Engl if you really want one. You'll appreciate it a lot more, it's quality gear, and if you want to sell it, you'll get more than the handshake and a 5 dollar coupon of Mc Donalds like you'd get by selling a B-52. B-52's are decent, yes, but cheaply made, and in the long run they might not hold up. It's actually a cheaper solution instead of spending money for a B-52, and then ultimately getting the Engl. Going the cheaper route and settling is never a good option. Now if you like the B52 more then by all means, but if you really want a Bogner, Mesa, Engl,Peavey, whatever...buy one. Put in a little more time at work, wash a couple more dishes for allowance, trade in bottle caps, whatever, and get what you really want.

Totally agree. You already have a B-52 dude, why get another one? You'll forever be stuck in the cheap gear rut. My first amp was a Marshall MG15DFX. My next amp was a 6505 and a Marshall 4x12, and I really don't want or need anything else. Save up for what you want rather than looking for cheap fix, because like a hooker, you'll end up instantly satisfied but feeling cheated out of something. And you may be stuck with something you can't get rid of.

Check mod sites, repair sites, and people that have dealt with the amps. They all agree they are pretty good amps..for a cheap chinese amp, but they surely ain't putting the bigboys of the amp world out of business. That still doesn't negate the fact that you'd rather have something else. If you want something else..save for it. If you're hell bent on buying the B52, which it seems you are, then go ahead. But the best thing to do would be to save until you get the amp you really want. And even still I'd recommend waiting a little, seeing if the company fixes problems and updates their models, which companies do, that way you won't have to spend money doing what they've already done.

Go to American Musical and use their easy payment plan.

Spider Valves are pretty damn cool! Line 6 Spider Valve HD100 Guitar Amplifier Head at AmericanMusical.com

or...

Peavey JSX Guitar Amplifier Head at AmericanMusical.com

or...

Peavey 6505 Guitar Amplifier Head at AmericanMusical.com

All of these are obtainable with decent payments. If you want an Engl though nothing else is like it. You'll just have to save up or finance one through Rock Solid Amps if you've got the credit.

I'd recommend the Peavey or Bugera stuff if you're on a budget.

I have one, After a re-tube it's pretty solid. Not the best amp for sure, better than any solid state.

But honestly, for the price, you can probably find a used 5150/5150 II for the same price, If you can, i'd jump on that.

I've have the B52 for almost 3 years, no issues whatsoever with it.
