![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | New tubes for Mindy! Suggestions? i'm getting new pre and poweramp tubes for mindy soon, but i'm not really sure which ones to get. i'm probably going to e-mail doug at doug's tubes about it, but i figured i would get your opinions first. preamp: i want something high gain, clear, and harmonically rich. poweramp: i'm getting el34s, but i don't know which ones i should get. i'm thinking ruby's or jj's. i'll also be buying whatever i need to buy to bias the amp myself. any help would be appreciated. thanks. edit: i'm also rather interested in kt77s. i LOVE the midrange grind and top-end bite that el34's have. what would kt77s bring to the table? I'm typing this on my knees with my butt in the air. -Drew |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Rubys are junk, stay away from them. you really can't go wrong with JJ for power tubes. get a Tung-Sol Gold Pin 12AX7 for V1, and either Electro Harmonix or JJ for the other positions. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | yeah, well, what ed said those get my endorsements The kt77's are going to keep more of the bite of the el34's, but add some round bass to the low end and help fill it out a bit Reverse Headstocks or Bust Dude...i just got a spam email that was titled "Funky date rape trick" -Zepp88 I just got another funny email "Her pussy smiled at me" -Zepp88 Don't tell me you haven't heard of Raptor Jesus It's important that you know this information :headnod: It will decide your fate when we are pwned. -JoeOvChaosI was going KAT KAT KAT KAT and you were going KAT... chk... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | KT77 THAT SHIT. budda OUT. lol seriously, KT77's are the ultimate form of win. IMO. and a few others seem to agree with me . the tung sol is also a solid bet.i think its mainly just the wiring where my amp is right now, but it's not playing as nicely as it does elsewhere. once i pay off my MC bill i think i will buy a tung sol and see if it's an improvement over the JJ (which it should theoretically be). and if it's not.. i'll stick it in my buddy's VK212 haha. but yeah, KT77's dude. there is no other. ![]() 3 cheers for free gear! ![]() | KT77'S NOW!!!!!!! From doing research, and from my own genius (It had NOTHING to do with Budda..it was all my idea..not his..I actually invented KT77's, invented electricity, and built the house I was born in), I decided on a JJ KT77 retube kit and holy shyte was that the greatest thing ever. If you like EL34's, and have testicles, you'll love KT77's. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | the vvhb2 is definitely a sick pickup. it doesn't necessarily do the smooth, saturated lead tone i usually use, but i was looking for a pickup that had a different sound anyway. the mid-gain tones from it are just incredible, and it has a very lively, open tone to it. the cleans blow my mind every time i use it. and i guess i'm throwing some kt77s in mindy. ![]() |
