I also have trouble believing it's not technique - no offence to the OP.

i can normally bust out wild PH's with my 6's, easy. took a while to get used to getting them out of the C7, and i still struggle a tiny bit.

i know it sounds wierd, but take your time and practise some PH's - you really shouldnt need to dime the gain. the gain is on 2 on my ultra channel, it's boosted w/ drive on 0 with the TS, and i can get PH's easy.

3 cheers for free gear!

So dime the gain.... I don't see the problem

I agree that it is 'mostly' technique. I've found myself squealing on cheap ass guitars and amps, as well as anything else. I could rip them off easily on the Fireball and Powerball I played on. But, as anyone on this board could probably guess, I had the gain dimed.

The only hindrance I've ever had to making effective PH's are pickup height, and that damn middle pickup on a H/S/H or S/S/H setup guitar. Fucking thing gets in the way.

aaaaaaaaaaah so it's a whole different issue then initially thought! i see.

have you tried picking in different places? i find i get the gnarly PH's when im closer to the bridge, whereas on my les paul it really doesnt matter where i am lol. also, a good vibrato goes a long way for good pinch harmonic tone. it's something i need to practise myself.

get an invader? SE? savage 120? thunder 50? what else do they make

He has a good point. I consider myself a "PH" expert (Just ask Bob, Leon, and Eric how many "per capita" I use in my songs live ), and I've come to find that there's 2 really good 'sweet-spots' for hitting them with the pick. First is directly in the middle of the 2 humbuckers, and second is just behind the neck pickup. You can hit them close to the bridge pickup as well, but those don't come through consitently for me, whereas with the other two spots, I can hit them all day long (As a matter of fact, I wrote them both into one of our newer songs, its all through the main chorus part)

Then maybe its just not the amp for you? If PH's are a big part of your sound (they are mine), maybe you need a different amp?
