New cab day, veretone content

So after I saw WarriorOfMetal's post on getting a cab from veretone I had to see about getting a 2x8" cab for my valve junior head. I have 2 8" celestion speakers that I've been wanting to make a cab for, for a while. But since I had no work shop of my own, I would have to do it at my grandparents. But Dino from veretone came in with a quote far under what it would cost me in materials and gas to drive to northern minnesota. So I bit, and they got the cab finished rather quickly.

And so the quest starts.....
I'm home sick today, but my job allows me to work from anywhere so I'm working none the less.

Maybe my senses are heightened due to the zicam and dayquil...because I hear a sound.

Hurray!! a box, and it says 2x8 on it.

Some foam, thats good

in the wrap, see digitech 2101 in background awaiting upgrade, and Peavey MAP 8x4 awaiting new battery

silver looks good

grill is attached with velcro and there are a couple ribbons to pull to get it away. I do like this because the back is very clean on this setup

Here is the tab

Modded jr head

With the Cort M200 now tuned to drop C

I'm still working so I haven't put the speakers in, but I'm impressed with the build quality, and the service I got from them since they don't normally do 8 inchers.

I'm working on building one of the Firefly tube amps from ax84.com and am thinking that I may have them build a 1x8" cab for that.

Well back to work

the construction looks pretty much the same as mine, but looks like you got a better tolex job than i did. then again, i wanted something a little harder to pull off cleanly, so...

i *still* don't have pics of my cab though, i really need a fucking camera

edit...it looks like they put the wires on the right terminals on the jacks on yours, too....i was confused as shit when i put speakers in my cab and got no sound. turned out that they'd put the wires on the wrong side of the jacks

Well I finally got the speakers in, I don't have a wire for running them both in series like I need to,since they are 4 ohms a piece running them in parallel is a no-no on the valve jr(to low impedence), so I just hooked up one speaker, and put the other one in place so I didn't have a gaping hole.

Sounds good to me, Has more bass then my valve jr combo, but this is close backed vs the open on the combo.

I think its a perfect setup for such a small amp, so I can't comment on how it would be in a 4x12 situation.

Ya I wanted a nice simple layout of black and silver face.

I was wondering on the jacks as well, but I guess it depends on how your use to it anyways, granted I don't do much with cabs.

Either way it works, looks nice, and I'm happy
