Question Rectoverb: combo vs head

I just realized that both can be obtained for a bit under 1k$. Are there any reasons not to get a combo? As I uderstand, it can be connected to an external cab with hardly any trouble.
So maybe they do sound different? Or maybe the combo has less interconnection options? What do you think?

Drew's Combo sounds great, but it's a real heavy fucker.
My Rectoverb head weighs nothing.
Besides that I don't think there's any other real difference.

Can I be the devil on your shoulder?

Do you gig, or plan to gig in the near future? If so, get the head and a good cab, if not, get the combo. Just remember that if you go head/cab, that you will have to specify C90s in the cab, or your rig will not sound like the combo.

Compared to some of the combos I've owned it feels like nothing.
65lbs? I doubt it's that much , I'm 6 foot 210 lbs so I'm no behemoth,
I'm guessing more like 45lbs. My JSX head weighs more.
I prefers heads as well, I run my rectoverb thru my mesa recto 2X12 cab with V30's and my Avatar Cab with 2 C90's. it sounds great thru them both.

I think the Rectoverb weighs in in the 70-ish range, and I'd imagine the head was 40-50 or so.

The biggest difference if you assume you're running it into a C90 cab is that the Rectoverb combo is open backed (3/4, technically), whereas odds are a Recto 2xx12 or something will be closed. You'll get slightly better, more open sounding cleans out of the combo, and probably nicer low gain stuff too. The higher gain metal rhythm sounds however will be tighter through a closed back cab.

Honestly, it's not a massive difference, so buy whatever is more convenient for you. I personally think the head's a little sexier, but...
