So I played a JSX yesterday ... wow
I was at Guitar Center to get some strings and shit and I decided to try out some guitars. I saw a Schecter Hellraiser C-1 FR. I plugged it into the first available amp, which was a JSX combo. I started playing, but soon realized that the 12 year old who was playing through it before had done a total mid scoop n00b setting on it. So, on the Ultra Channel, I turned the fat switch off, turned the gain down to a notch or so below half, turned the bass and mids to about half, the treble a bit over half, and the channel volume cranked. Damn, this thing was aggressive. I honestly didn't expect it to sound like that. I may have to make my next amp purchase another Peavey.
Just thought I'd share.

Yeah, those are very nice. I played a very well set up PRS Custom 24 through that combo about a month ago, that amp crushed.

those jsx's are really nice.
tons of gain on tap, and they're really tight. also, fat switch must always be on ![]() |

sorry duder, but that is a big
cancelled. i never use the FAT switches.. then again, all my guitars have buckers. but even my strat sounded good w/o it.it might be good for rock leads etc for that extra bloom, but.. i'unno.. for metal that is a no-no ![]() on a side note, JSX's rock. ![]()
3 cheers for free gear!

The fat switch just rubbed me the wrong way, though. I dialed in a tone I liked and the fat switch just seemed to make it a bit flabby. But then again, I only sat down and played for less than five minutes. The little kids running around were driving me crazy. |

x³s are way better imo, the JSX is good, but for me totally useless. Then again, I've only played the stack (half and full) so I guess I haven't been able to crank it up as loud as you did, lol.

I think that as of right now, Im going with a jsx. From what I have heard, its a 5150 that is voiced more towards what I want, with an actual clean channel
![]() That and I can get a killer deal on it. |
