Orange cabs: where is the magic?

There seem to be many folks here that stand by Orange cabs. It seems that they have two models, one with V30's, and one with other Celestions. I'm wondering of the magic of Orange cabs extends to the V30 model, or if people just really love the one with the other speakers.

Are there any other reasons for loving the cabs so much?

^Codyyy realizes the answer: DUHHHH THEY'RE ORANGE!!!!

They're just built really solidly so they help mask a lot of the V30 unpleasantness that most other cabs don't. Since I don't like V30s personally, I'd rather find a cabinet that had speakers I like more such as Black Shadows or VHT P50E's. You could always get any high quality v30 cabinet (Orange, Diezel, ENGL, Mesa, etc) and change the speakers.

Really man, it's going to come down to what head you're using. Certain cabs and speakers match up better with different heads than others. Find out what amp head you're going to run with, and then after that we can talk about the best cabinet to match with that. As much as I love my VHT cabinet, it's not always a good match for non-VHT heads.

PS: We can order Orange cabs in black (or any color) by the way. So if you did decide you wanted an Orange from my place, I could order whichever you wanted.

Those black Orange cabs are very good looking.

What is the difference between V30's and G12K's?

The G12K100s are way more bottomheavy, but somehow manage to remain ridiculously tight.
theyre not as middy, but still have some good grind. personally, i think thats where its at in terms of speakers for progrock and nu metal. I would imagine theyre decent for most metal in general, but thats really not my forte. I lurves em though, and with how tight they stay through the low end they seem like a natural choice for 7string/ERG players and people who play downtuned at all

Reverse Headstocks or Bust

i think it's partly the ridiculously robust construction of the housing and baffle board. The v30 ENGL cab is also flawlessy made, weigthts the same, also has a fuckton of birch plies, but sound A LOT different. I mean, not even similar.

I guess they use a different baffle-board construction and the whole rear/front mounted speaker thing may also explain the difference to the ENGL cab.

Anyway, what i'm trying to say is that it's apparently not ONLY the ultra-solid construction of the housing, but may also be slight differences in how the baffle board is constructed, which is poorly described by manufacturers

i hope someone who actually understands a bit of acoustics can explain this

Mine has the Eminence speakers and it sounds pretty sweet. I think it's just the fact that the cabinet design lends itself towards focused projection. Very three dimensional sound to it.
